What is Shoulder Pain?
Shoulder pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints and can significantly affect daily life, work, sleep, hobbies, and exercise. It can present as a dull ache, sharp pain, stiffness, or weakness in the shoulder joint and surrounding muscles. Many people also notice pain with reaching overhead, lifting, pushing, pulling, or sleeping on the affected side. In some cases, shoulder pain can also radiate into the upper arm or neck.
Common causes of shoulder pain include muscle strain, rotator cuff irritation, tendon inflammation, poor posture, repetitive overhead activities, weight training, or restricted shoulder and upper back mobility. Conditions such as rotator cuff tendinopathy, impingement, and joint dysfunction are frequent contributors.
