What is Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It occurs when the plantar fascia on the bottom of the foot becomes irritated or overloaded. This is most often described by patients as sharp or aching pain at the bottom of the heel into the middle of the foot. The pain is typically the worst with the first steps in the morning or after sitting, increased discomfort after long periods of standing, walking, or running.
There are common contributing factors that can lead to plantar fasciitis, including sudden increased activity, tight calf muscles, poor foot mechanics, unsupportive footwear, or prolonged time on your feet.
