What is Knee Pain?
Knee pain is a frequent complaint that affects athletes, active adults, and those dealing with age-related wear and tear. Because the knee acts as a hinge between the hip and the ankle, it is often the victim of mechanical issues occurring elsewhere in the kinetic chain. Common conditions that are seen include Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (Runner’s Knee), Patellar Tendonitis (Jumper’s Knee), ACL, and Meniscus injuries. Whether you are experiencing a sharp catch during a squat, swelling after a long walk, or a dull ache behind the kneecap, these symptoms usually indicate that the joint is under improper load or suffering from soft tissue restrictions.
How Can We Help?
Our approach to knee recovery starts with a movement assessment to determine if your pain is coming from the joint itself or is a result of poor hip stability or ankle mobility. Our Carmel team utilizes Active Release Techniques (ART) and Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (scraping) to address adhesions in the quads, hamstrings, and IT band that often pull the knee on the structures around the knee joint. We combine these therapies with Specific Joint Mobilizations and Customized Functional Rehab to strengthen the supporting musculature and improve knee tracking. By restoring proper biomechanics, we help you return to running, lifting, or daily activities without the need for braces or pain medication.
