What is Hip Pain?
Hip pain is a common yet complex condition that can significantly limit your ability to walk, run, or even sit comfortably. Because the hip is a deep ball-and-socket joint, discomfort can be felt in the groin, the outer thigh (lateral hip), or even the gluteal region. While some cases are caused by osteoarthritis or bursitis, many patients suffer from femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) or piriformis syndrome caused by repetitive athletic stress. Additionally, "referred pain" from the lumbar spine or SI joint often mimics hip issues, making an accurate diagnosis essential for recovery.
How Can We Help?
At Indy Spine and Rehab, we perform a functional movement assessment to differentiate between true joint pathology and muscular imbalances. Our Carmel team utilizes Active Release Techniques (ART) and Manual Therapy to address tight hip flexors and adductors that often entrap local nerves. We combine these soft tissue treatments with Joint Mobilization and Progressive Functional Rehab to improve hip capsule mobility and gluteal stability. By restoring proper biomechanics and pelvic alignment, we help you return to your active lifestyle and prevent the long-term wear and tear that leads to surgery.
